Editorial Policy
How we decide what goes in the review and how we keep it accurate.
Where information comes from
We start from Zillow’s own published pages (product pages, help articles, investor materials) and add independent reporting from named news and industry sources. Where a figure comes from a third party rather than from Zillow, we say so in the text. Where a number is not published, we say that instead of guessing.
How scores work
Scores out of ten are editorial judgments on five criteria: usefulness of data, accuracy, cost transparency, tools for each audience, and privacy and control. They are opinions, not measurements, and we explain the reasons next to each score.
Dating and checking
Each page shows the date we last checked it. Zillow changes products and prices often, so treat older pages with caution and verify on zillow.com.
Tools
We may use software tools, including AI-assisted writing and editing tools, to help draft and proofread text. A person reviews and approves what is published and checks figures against their sources.
Independence
We are not sponsored by Zillow or any competitor. See the Advertising Disclosure.
Corrections
If you find an error or an outdated figure, tell us through the contact page. We recheck the source, correct the page and update the date.
